First, start a simple chat with your new Bot

You need to go to the bot you just created and start a simple chat. Just type “hello”. You can access the new bot by clicking on the link shown in the congratualtions message from BotFather that starts with t.me. Once you have started a simple chat, you can now get the chat ID by following the steps below.

  1. Click on this URL https://api.telegram.org/bot$TOKEN/getUpdates
  2. Replace the word $TOKEN with your token that you got when you created your bot as shown above in this example. 548315749:AUVB3KBnh659KhgNCUGvh364d2846FHVTjv
  3. The new URL would look like this: https://api.telegram.org/bot548315749:AUVB3KBnh659KhgNCUGvh364d2846FHVTjv/getUpdates.

Paste the URL into a browser and you should see similar results, but you will see your own name and a unique id (Highlighted in Yellow below). If you get the following: {“ok”:true,”result” but nothing else after it, just type in “Hello” again into you Bot and refresh the page.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”13456″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” onclick=”link_image”][vc_custom_heading text=”All Done!” font_container=”tag:h3|text_align:left” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text]Now we should have the information to start using the Telegram Bot.
